Daily Reflections for a New Era
By Reynold Feldman
Winona, MN: Saint Mary’s Press, 2000, 381 pp.
366 daily one-page essays with a lead quotation and journaling prompt
The present collection of daily reflections is meant to provide insight into what wisdom is. Each day begins with a quotation from the riches of world cultures. I then briefly discuss what the passage means to me, sometimes in a very direct way, other times in a more elliptical fashion. Finally, I ask you, the reader, to reflect on some aspect of your life in light of the reading and to write your thoughts down in a Wisdom Journal.
“Wisdom is an invaluable resource and guide for strengthening, developing, and accessing our own inherent wisdom nature” (Angeles Arrien, PhD, author of The Four-Fold Way)
“If there were a formula for gaining wisdom, Reynold Feldman has it. Focusing upon daily reflection and practice—meditation and action—he provides day-after-day challenges that move us toward the elusive, deeply desired goal of deepening our selves: getting wisdom.” (John D. Maguire, president emeritus, Claremont Graduate University)
“Having a daily inspirer to dip into when at your God space is a blessing. Reynold Feldman has produced such an ecumenical-transdenominational soul friend.” (Rabbi Zalman Schachter-Shalomi, co-author of From Age-ing to Sage-ing)
