New Year's Wisdom

My original plan was to write about the wisdom of Solomon. But with 2011 starting in three days, that can wait. "New Year's Wisdom" it is. In the spirit of the Holy Days, permit me to dip into the Bible. First, Jesus explains in John 12:24 (NEB), ". . . A grain of wheat remains a solitary grain unless it falls into the ground and dies; but if it dies, it bears a rich harvest." Then in Revelation 21:5 (KJV) we read, "Behold I make all things new." The paradox of death as a doorway to renewal is everywhere.
